Gian Luca Farina Perseu is an Enterprise and Software Architect and 21Style founder. He was born in Torino (Turin, Piedmont), for nine years he lived in Alghero (Sassari, Sardinia). He now lives in Sciolze (Turin, Piedmont).

His passion started at the age of 10 when he has touched for the first time a computer with the Apple IIc assembled by his uncle. From there through the Commodore 64 and Amiga, he began the first serious programming experiments in BASIC and assembler.

After high school, he specialized in programming becaming a reference in the Clipper community and also releasing some applications for Windows 3.1 in the public domain (freeware) developed in C language.

In 1995 he worked as consultant for the City of Turin Council and he developed various applications in Access and Visual Basic. He also worked on one of the first applications on the Web (real time election results on the Internet for 1996 Policy and 1997 Administrative elections)

At the end of 1995 he was a Java pioneer in CSI Piemonte and collaborated in the definition of Object Oriented (MVC) frameworks to be applied to the first Java projects with Three-Tiers architectures.

Gian Luca engaged in Atos Origin (now Engineering) at the end of 1997. In this years Gian Luca increased his experience and his consultant experience acquiring more management knowledges and developing many projects for e-Business, System Integration and System Design areas. Technology evolution and bigger development team permitted to Gian Luca to acquire more skills in Project Management and Risk Management.

Since 1999 he has managed his projects according to the ISO9001 standard.

Since May 2005 he is a consultant at CSI Piemonte and Software Development Manager in adMin srl. In adMin he designed and implemented MonLic, a tracking licenses web application, and GECO, a web application for managing remote jobs on clusters in a GRID environment. During this experience he was speaker at Java Conference (Click here to download the presentation - in Italian language - ).

After adMin acquisition by Tech Value Spa, Gian Luca ends its experience in adMin and founded 21Style, his first owned company.

In August 2010 21Style started defining architecture and developing first GraphDB (NOSQL) italian application, MuseoTorino. In this project 21Style applied Web 3.0 rules, for the Turin municipality heritage collection, with full Open Data access thru specific APIs. Slides about the project can be found here or a video with Gian Luca Farina Perseu at Codemotion 2011 (Rome) can be found here (in italian).

He has deep knowledge of Java and related technologies (XML, Web Services, EAI) and he has a high level of knowledge of Microsoft (Visual Basic, ASP, c#, .NET, Sharepoint) technologies; he worked on the best Application Servers (WebSphere, Oracle, Bea) and databases (Oracle, DB2, SQLServer).

With the mission to Create Applications, and not only to develop, Gian Luca applies its knowledge in a broad range of business and operational areas. He is always critical and sensitive not only to Coding and Architectures, but also to Design (Look'n'Feel and Graphics) and Usability in applications.

Keen observer of trends in the computer world, he is able to accomodate and quickly learn new technologies that arise on the market, in a rational and positive way.
